This morning we went up to Emily's grave. I had picked some Marsh Marigolds as they are out now, and laid them next to her headstone. They looked pretty there, but they will soon wither.

Rachel had picked out a butterfly garden ornament earlier in the week so we set that there too. Last night Joel and the kids made little things out of clay, some of those were given to Emily, too.

The Juneberry trees bloomed this week.

Tonight we'll have strawberry shortcake.

And still she will not be here.

There will always be someone missing.

I am happy in spirit, but the flesh is sorrowful and will not be content; the parting grieves me beyond measure.

  1. Your Junebug has been on my mind as we enter June, and Emily's days. And, still, she is not here. No matter how many flowers, or ornaments, or clay gifts we give our daughters, still, they are not here. Still. You'd think they would have come back by now, wouldn't you.
Thank you for the quote by Martin Luther. It's perfect.
