The P___ family stayed home for Christmas this year. There was snow on the ground, the kids were excited (well, Joshua was anyway), and there was no rush. Overall our Christmas season was peaceful.
Joshua took part in a play at First Baptist Church. During one of the songs, Joshua, dressed in a 'royal' robe, a crown, and a sceptor, walked out on stage for a few minutes and then rushed back into the arms of Mama.
We wanted Christmas to be about Christ and not focused on gifts. This was difficult at first, but Joel and I did what our parents did when we were growing up, Joel and I had Joshua set up the nativity scene as Daddy read the Christmas story. Then we sang a few Christmas songs. After that it was stockings and gifts. It was fun seeing Joshua getting into everything we did. Kids really do make Christmas special.
Christmas dinner. It will never happen again. The dishes and the work and the time spent cooking, preparing, planning and cleaning. It's just not worth the 30 minutes of eating. I'm not sure what we will do next year...maybe popcorn and caramel apples!
The new year brings more conviction for Joel and I to live more strongly for Jesus. To surrender all we have and to believe in His promises.
To trust in an Almighty God that He will supply strength when this new little one comes so soon after Rachel.

ReplyDeleteAlways great to hear how the grand kids are developing. Kids are some of God's best ways of teaching us. We know they will be brought up to love Jesus.
