Completely Hopeless
Joel was talking about an Andrew Peterson song the other day. It was from one of his older albums and it was about heaven. Heaven being hopeless. Yes, hopeless. Here, I'll try to explain because it's kind of neat...
What is hope? Hope is looking towards what is ahead, in the future. What I see in the future, motivates me to live through today. That's hope.
My grief over Emily is relieved greatly knowing that I will see her again someday.
My difficult days in parenting do not seem as bad when I look to what I want in the future- children who love the Lord.
When Jesus returns and all those who love Him go to heaven with Him - there is no need for hope. Because we're there! We made it! We are with Jesus! So since there is nothing more to hope for, there is no need for it. Heaven is completely hopeless! I guess you could say heaven is faithless also. Since there is no more need for faith either. God will be right in front of you - you won't need to conjure up any faith! What a relief, eh?!!
I thought it was kind of neat thinking. Actually it encouraged me greatly because it made so much sense and caused me to look at heaven a little differently. It may not be "theologically correct", but it makes sense to me.
